Discretionary

You can spend1,700

After bills and savings — without touching other goals.

In short

What is this?

This leftover spend calculator subtracts monthly bills and a savings goal from take-home income. The remainder is what you can spend freely without missing obligations or raiding savings — if leftover is negative, the plan does not close yet.

What to put in each field

  • Income: net pay for the month (all take-home sources).
  • Bills: rent, utilities, minimum debt, insurance, transport, and other must-pays.
  • Savings goal: amount you want to set aside before discretionary spend.

When leftover is negative

Cut wants, renegotiate bills, or lower the savings target temporarily — or raise income. A negative result means the three numbers cannot all be true at once.

FAQ

Should I include variable groceries in bills?
Put a realistic grocery ceiling in bills if you treat food as non-negotiable; otherwise leave a buffer inside leftover.
Is this the same as a full budget?
It is a one-line cash-flow check. For category limits, use the monthly budget planner or category budgets in the app.
